Saudi Journalist Tells Israelis To Not Worry If Saudi Arabia Acquires Nuclear Weapons

Times of Israel: Don’t worry about us having nukes, Saudi journalist tells Israelis, in Hebrew

Loay al-Shareef, reportedly close to royal family, posts video message assuring Jewish people that Saudi Arabia poses no threat, is only interested in self-defense.

A Saudi Arabian journalist posted a Hebrew-language video message telling Israelis and the Jewish people to not fear the possibility of his country acquiring nuclear weapons, as they would not be a threat to Israel but rather would be intended for self-defense against regional aggressors.

Loay al-Shareef published the short clip on his Facebook page March 19. In it he talked about the concerns in Israel after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a US television interview earlier this month that Saudi Arabia would arm itself with nuclear munitions if Iran ever obtained the weapons.

Fortunately there are no terrorists in that nation so nothing to worry about

They normally wouldn't have even bothered to tell Israel not to worry. The fact that they felt it necessary to reach out to Israel in this manner suggests that things are moving in the right direction.

With that said, if I were Israel, I would be worried too. While more stable than it has been, the Saudi government is not exactly stable. Should they acquire nukes and the government falls this could be a problem as the alternatives to the Saudi royals are worse.

Saudi Arabia needs to acquire nukes because of Iran who either already has them or will have them soon. The so called inspections as part of the so called deal will simply rubber stamp whatever Iran wants and Iran will deny access when and where they see fit.

As to the Iran threat, Israel might want to look in the mirror. I explained to friends and family in early 2008 that we did not need to worry about the Iranian nuclear threat. Israel would take care of the problem. The IAF is better led, better trained, and their modified fighter planes are far superior to anything we could produce. As such, while we would never be able to penetrate Iran's air defenses, the Israelis could have done so easily back then, taken out the nuclear program, and been back home before we/the Americans even knew what happened.

Now its going to be much harder. As to why they did not do this, only they can answer that. It's to bad really, I was rather looking forward to the "deer in the headlights" looks on the faces of American leaders before the bright lights of the media trying to explain what just happened. Obviously the Israelis were not going to tell the Americans about their plans as Iranian operatives buried deep in the US government would have instantly warned the Iranian leadership about was going down. Now such communication is even less likely as there is an additional layer of problems with those who would try to undermine a duly elected POTUS for pure partisan political reasons by leaking information and these people don't particularly like Israel either.
