WNU,

Just a question. Why is this guy alive?

I thought only North Americans and Western Europeans were kind to the cruel and cruel to the kind.

Are they keeping him alive to see if he pleads to any other crimes?

Aizino,
His case is well known throughout Russia, and I for the love of God do not understand why they gave this interview. If it is any consolation .... Russian prisons are hell-holes. When he is finally put in the general prison population .... which he in the end will be .... he will be dead within a few weeks.

I talked to a Roman Catholic about the death penalty. According to what they were taught, you had to put down someone guilty of a capital crime within a certain time frame. If seven years say dragged by without enacting the penalty being imposed, then execution would be immoral, because the person was different, could be different or could have 'grown' more moral. I had a hard time with that argument at the time

I do not think that would be the case with this guy. He is grinningly unrepentant. But as you say the prison population will put him down.

I think this murdered needs to be put down. You cannot rely on what the future might hold. People have escaped prison due to things like earthquakes (Paul in Asia Minor in the Bible). Or it might be something a little more mundane like a prison riot.

Let him go to prison and see how long his grin lasts there. I hope the guys in prison will somehow find a way to let a woman inmate or even female prison ward do the final bit of killing. So he can see what it's like.
