Kaitlin Lavinder, The Cipher Brief: U.S. Special Operations Forces: Taking the Fight to Terror in Africa

U.S. President Donald Trump’s “war on terror” – much like his predecessor’s – uses partners’ capabilities against terrorists in an effort to protect the country from potential attacks, while minimizing U.S casualties. In Africa, Trump’s continuation of this strategy has resulted in increased reliance on U.S. special operations forces.

The U.S. Special Operations Command Africa now conducts around 100 activities in 20 countries with 1,700 personnel at any given time, according to an October strategic planning guidance report from the command’s head, Brigadier General Donald Bolduc. That is nearly double the number of U.S. special operations forces in Africa since 2014.

Africa is a strategic continent. It used to be an European "influence area", but that's not any more:
1) It was a "colonialist" one
2) Europe has not the mean anymore.
It will be a competition between China and USA.

Mr. LFMAO,
You can be right on the time line, but scientifically there is no link with that. That's the same if you say FDR was elected and WWII came...or linking a volcano event with any vote in the world.
I like your humor......

Just ignore Jay Farquharson. He just learned how to use the internet and is still unable to reference scholarly/reputable sources. His arguments usually lack cogency and are riddled with so much fallacy that entertaining him is just not worth your time. He also uses childish initialisms from beginning to end, and he is inclined to either laugh is ass of entirely one day, or blow out a lung doing so. Best not to argue with stupid.

Tom dispatch talks about 2010 on.

"Since the current insurgency started in 2009, it has killed 20,000 and displaced 2.3 million from their homes and was ranked as the world's deadliest terror group by the Global Terrorism Index in 2015"

Nigeria has had 1 non-Muslim president since 1999. That was from 2010 to 2015.

Boko Haram went ape___ crazy in 2009, when there was a Muslim president.

the last 3 out of 4 presidents of Nigeria have been Muslim and yet some wild-eyed crazy Muslims want to practice pure Islam.

And some loopy person want to blame Africom and by extension 'Murrikuns'.
